Some of my observations about tuba pricing are:
Everything else being equal:
1. Tuba pricing increases from Eb to BBb to F to CC.
2. The more the valves the higher the price.
3. Eb horns are expected to have at least 4 valves to be useful in the current market, and should ideally have 5 valves.
4. Front action tubas are worth more than top action tubas. (Although this doesn't apply for compensating instruments.)
There is a market for 3 valve Ebs, but it is limited. All that said, I have seen similar Eb horns sell in the range from $500 to $1500.
