After getting burned on a couple of things on the auction site (most notable a banjo described as "having exquisite inlay" that turned out to be a decal), I would remind you of "caveat emptor." That being said:

There's some difference between a Bach with an enlarged backbore and one without. Be sure to ask the seller the question. If he/she/it can't answer the question, be wary. there are websites that will sell a NEW Bach 18 for $43.00. It's probably easier to return a mouthpiece you don't like.

I have both a Bach 18 and a 24 AW. like them both. prefer the 24 AW (w/ enlarged backbore) overall.
at least one of the websites has a trial program that allows you to return mouthpieces. check into that.
I have not found the 18 to be less tiring than the 24AW. the 24AW seemed to give me good control in both the upper and lower range.
