40K is a 4 valve sousaphone with a considerably wider bored last branch of the main circle and with a much larger throath than the present auction instrument does display.

My 1927 Conn 40K (serial #239792) sits just behind me in its Wenger chair as a living proof.

The auction instrument should not even be a 38K as, that on eis reported to have the same branch proportions as the 40K has.
