Just wanted to recommend that you try a product made by 3-M: Tarnishield. It is a liquid that comes in a black and silver bottle.
I bought a Kailison DS model 5 valve cc for $1,000.
I was able to do so because the horn was completely black and the owner thought it was then worthless...what luck I had. The tarnishield completely cleaned the mess and did not hurt the horn. You can usually find it in stores such as Wal-Mart, but I have found it hard to find in the South. I usually get it in North Carolina on my way back to school in the north.
