lip medical problem???

Last year while i was a senior in my undergrad band the conductor had the band listen to the tubas play a really loud passage and told everyone in the band to raise their hand if they heard us lose any intensity (at least no one raised their hand). Great idea i guess but this hurt my lips, mostly my upper one. Whenever i play loud passages now or just play a long time i get little tiny bumps on my lips that are lightly discolored and my lips go a little numb, it hurts a little bit. If someone were to look at it they would have to look really close, it doesn't look that bad.

I'm now doing my grad work in performance and i am just a bit concerned and i'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of anything like this. I haven't seen any doctor about this and it's been going on over a year now. I think i'm just assuming nothing will really be able to be done about it and i try to ignore it but that doesn't always work. I also know that's not the best answer.

thank you for any thoughts or ideas
