I am guessing, based on your inclusion of a new St. Pete on your list, that your budget is limited to about $3000. As some one who owns a St. Pete (as well as an Alex F and a B&S CC), I would say that the St. Pete was not a bad horn for $1200, but it was never worth $3000 (free blowing, nice intonation and tone, but small sound, sloppy and fragile construction, absolutely horrible valves). Now that the little Weril is available for ~$1800, I'm not even sure the St. Pete would be a great deal at $1200, any more.

I think Dave Fedderly has a B&S PT-1 for quite a bit more than $3000, but it is, likely, a superb horn. Although I haven't tried either, the VMI 103 or the new King 2341 have a very dedicated following, and should be tried.
