I´m not playing a CC, but 5/4 BBb from Rudy´s and I´ve also allways had trouble below low F#-F What improved that - apart from getting the propper mouthpiece, lots of practice etc was quite surprisingly a change in the lead-pipe! I had a repair-man take it off, and bend the whole affair upwards a few degrees. Now I get a different position between me and the mp, and Tataaa low register opened up like hell. Ride, Fontane, Rhinegold.. you name it, it´s ALOT easier! (not that i´d be playing like pokorny, but it´s still a different world!)
Might be worth giving it a try...
