I am fortunate to be a member of a brass band (Brass Band of Central Florida) where in January we had a concert featuring Phil Smith, Principal trumpet with NY Phil Orch, AND David Childs. They each played several solos with the band as well as a couple duets with the band. They both were fantastic. Both Mr. Childs and Mr. Smith were had famous fathers in the British brass band forum and started playing at a very early age. In addition both held a masterclass in the afternoon. It was very interesting hearing how similar, but also how different their technique and philosophy of playing was.
I only wish I could have been in the audience, also.
