Is the 'Y' joint between jointing tubes that you refer to is above the valve cluster where it joins the tube that sits on the players shoulder? If so, you have an Eb horn. Even though that joint is soldered, it has no function on the playability of the horn unless there is a break or crack in the tube that makes the 180 degree turn between the valve cluster at the main branch that runs clockwise (looking down on the valveset) to the main branch to the bell. Send me a picture if you can.
