One night I played in the cold at a football game.

How cold was it?..........asked a blonde cheerleader

It was Soooooooooo cold, that:

1. I really did have to pour hot coffee from the concession stands on the valve cluster of my 14K to keep the valves from sticking. Bad valve oil.......

2. At a funeral service where I blew taps for a retired marine master gunnery sergeant, the temperature was 12 degrees f. My G bugle played in Gb, and condensation froze on the inside in the 5 minutes from taps to the end of the service. (forgive me if I got the rank wrong) E8 for army is a master sergeant. (3 up and 3 down).

3. At a parade contest in December, my band won because we were the only band capable of performing in below 20 degree weather in the bootheel of Missouri.
