I could get up to a high E on my mirafone and that was the limit........until i got the one key piece of advice: "If you can buzz it you can play it."
Take just the MP over to a piano and puzz the high notes you cant get. Do it over and over until they center. Stick the horn back on and press the valves and Voila!
At least, it worked for me.
BTW, my Mirafone in from '79 as far as i can tell. Im using a standard conn helleberg.
These should not feel stuffy, even in the pedal range. If you get a stuffy feeling it's definitely got somethin bad in it.
