I have a friend that is buying a PT-6, and his price was around 9K for a laquer piston model from Custom, so with a gig bag and a hard case, plan on about 10-11K for a new one. For that price, you might contact whoever was selling that Hirsbrunner 21 and inquire about it. I don't think Miraphones 'waste air', but I'm not really sure what that means, either. I'm not a really big fan of most Miraphones, but most high school and college kids do just fine on them, so if I had one in good condition, I wouldn't complain. Almost all pro tubists play on CC tubas, and the CC/BBb thing is really old, and more than likely you'll end up buying a CC and learning new fingerings anyway, so don't worry about it. It's not that you can't succeed on BBb, it's just not what people do right now, so don't sweat it.

James
