#2 is interesting. While it is true that in the US most professional tubists use a CC horn for the "meat and taters" of their playing, I would not say that using a BBb would be limiting. There has been even in recent years a few premier military band tuba jobs won by players using large BBb tubas. In my opinion, the horn being used matters far, FAR less than what the musician sounds like.

That being said, I believe there still is the stigma of "BBb=amateur, CC=pro" BS for some closed-minded people in the US. Interestingly, hop across the pond to Germany and you'll see a totally different picture. F and BBb tubas are being used- none of this CC tuba business :)
