I have had Dan Oberloh say something like, "you don't want a BBb tuba because it won't have as clear a sound as a CC, a CC will articulate more clearly and quickly." I find it hard to believe that there is that much of an obvious sound difference between CC and BBb tubas, but clearly many people believe it to be true. OTOH if you are a tuba major in the US, you will be at a disadvantage trying to continue with BBb because of the overwhelming perspective that BBb tubas are for amteurs, while CCs are for pros.
