I might add, that my as mentioned good and experienced repairman refused to anneal my bell. That was not a matter of burning the lacquer, as I don't care how my instruments look, as long as they are not green. It was/is a matter of the original maker being the only entity being able to establish the right temperature conditions of the annealing process. And for that matter also being the only one having the exactly right mandrel to do the rolling and hammering over.

Where I come from, filing and scraping of the original tubing wall during a repair/restoring process is fully out of the question.

But if such removing of material has happened, then I can not imagine a responsible annealing process being possible for anybody, their ever so fine skills untold of.
