I agree that an Alexander is worth the effort/cost (even if you need a new bell). However, be careful about making a decision to anneal any bell with a bell garland (I have never seen an Alexander without one). My opinion is without an experienced and very knowlegable repair technician you could do some real damage to the bell/garland interface. Furthermore, this procedure may, or may not be advisable with a bell garland. Perhaps one of the Tubenet readers that is knowlegable about this procedure could give us a good answer.
