Hearty greetings to you all! I have a couple of questions about Oskar Böhme's Sextet in E flat minor, Op. 30.

1. Do you know of any available recordings?

2. I played this piece ten years ago with three trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. At that time, I played everything using the top octave (if I remember correctly). We are currently working on it with two trumpets, two horns, trombone, and tuba. I am wondering whether it might sound better with at least some of the parts played using the lower octave. So...for those of you who have played the piece before: When the part is in octaves, did you play the upper or lower part? Or did you play some up and some down?

By the way, I have looked at the score and will eventually do what the group thinks sounds best. However, I'm very interested in what has "worked" before. Thanks in advance for your help.

All the best,

Ed Owen
