I checked my dictionaries, and bydlo is not the Russian word for oxcart. I made a sloppy assumption based on Moussorgsky's nationality.
Since these pieces were inspired by an exhibition of pictures by Moussorgsky's friend Victor Hartmann, the question now is who named the piece. Was it the painter's title, or did Moussorgsky's?
