We have ours insured through State Farm, same company which happens to do our auto and home coverage, with something called "Personal Articles" insurance. Through a personal articles policy you can insure anything you want. We don't pay very much per year either. Couple hundred maybe for about $30,000 or so of combined insurance. I even used to have my mountain bike insured this way. The policy covers everything from loss to damage to theft for full replacement value, not a depreciated amount. Right now I use personal articles coverage for both tuba flight cases, CC tuba, F tuba, and wife's French horn.

We just have to periodically update the retail value by sending them letters from the shops we bought them from to get the full amount insured we requested.
