I've used Silent Brass on several occasions and have found that it is and incredible asset to someone who lives in an apartment or wants to practice in a place where shaking the premises is prohibited. However, I've found that Silent Brass can never compare to playing without because you will quickly limit your sound to fit that of the confines of Silent Brass - it does not match up with the sound that you will have when you play without it. I think it is a neat practice tool, but I think you should only spend the money to invest in it if you have no place to practice. Just a thought - hope it helps.
