There are few if any differences between the tuba parts of the Haas and Novak editions of Bruckner 4th other than the pedal C in the second movement. In the Haas edition, the trombones and tuba resolve the chorale to a C minor chord. In the Novak, the low brass stop just short of the resolution, (hence no pedal C) leaving the rest of the orchestra to continue in C minor. Since both Haas and Novak were working from the same manuscripts, it is difficult to explain their differing conclusions on numerous issues in the Bruckner canon.

For your purposes, ask your conductor which edition he is using. With regard to a posting a ways down, pray you're not playing the Schalk Edition, a spurious rewrite by an officious Bruckner pupil, which would rob you of an authentic Bruckner experience. Also get together with your trombone players. If their parts have the resolution, so will you. Bruckner 4 is a great piece to play. A great piece for low brass to do sectionals. By just practicing that chorale together, you'll know what you need to do to get that pedal C to balance, to be in tune, and to make your partners sound great.
