If by "typical Yamaha sound" you mean good pitch, well-centered notes and clean articulation, then I'll agree.

I've played both and own a 621. The 621 is easier to play over a wider pitch range, and is the smallest F tuba I know of that can be successfully used with all brass quintet literature. The 182 is difficult to manage for a lot of quintet literature, because the low register requires considerable specialized technique.

The 182 has its qualities, too, but it is not as versatile an instrument. So, I suppose it depends on what you need a small F to do.
