I'm glad things worked out well for you. I have a somewhat similar story from my graduate school days. We were onstage in our large performing hall in preparation for an upcoming concert. This was a special rehearsal with a guest conductor/clinician. I, a graduate assistant and all-around hotshot tuba player, was seated in the back row(now there's a surprise), on a riser which was about 30" high. While playing through one of the clinician's pieces, on leg of my chair went over the edge of the riser. I and my tuba were briefly suspended in slow motion. My chair, with me in it, went down the 30" to the floor below. Somehow I managed to set my tuba down on the riser without a dent, scratch, or any visible damage. Furthermore, I wasn't hurt. I will say I was very embarassed, but I have gotten over that.
