hey,
I use a PT10 in quintet and I love it, but my horn has a real fat sound for an f tuba. I had to work at it a little bit (concone, kopprasch, etc, cc tuba etudes) to get the sound I wanted on everything, but I like the flexability that it offers me with colors and being able to play softer in our quintet. So far no volume complaints and the harmonic series of an f tuba matches better to the horn and trombone than a CC does (for my money at least) and I guess the biggest factor is that my cc is a pt6 which feels just a little to big for the group. However if we were going to play some of the robert king gabreilli stuff or the art of the fugue stuff I just might whip out my big boy.
