I am a member of ITEA. (The tuba one)

I get FOUR issues of the journal per year.

ITEA has its place, but for us in the States, the board and the TUSABTEC (or the like) serves as s much more complete device than ITEA.

ITEA is making strives forward, but academia is a slow moving vehicle. Regional conferences are helping branch back out to the common folk.

I think what ITEA needs to understand is what our place is. The folks in charge of that institution are getting better at understanding that ultimately we are just a bunch of tuba players.

FWIW, my wife bought the copy of "les Brass" that one of the vendors at the conference had. Mainly because the drawings of how us brass players see ourselves and how the public sees us rings so true. Now if I could only get someone to publish a woodwind version to get her back...

Matt
