I have played a Kalison DS for about five years now. I cannot speak for every Kalison owner, as every horn is different in the hands of different players. That being said, I really can find no complaints with my Kalison. Intonation seems to be the #1 complaint I've heard. Mine has little intonation problems. I have played some so called better "brand name" tubas that had much worse intonation. The sound is a little on the bright side, which is good for me in the band setting. The biggest plus is the low register. The bell throat is huge, giving it a fat sound in the low register.

I have played many other horns and I haven't played one yet that jumped out at me as head-and-shoulders above my Kalison. Is it a perfect horn? No! Would I sell it and buy another CC? Yes, when the right one comes along.

My experience,

Jason Harrell
