Roger played his B&S f from 1979 until he left for Italy in 1989. His B&S and 188 were always at his side when he played with the LAPO. His old B&S is a truly great instrument. By far the best B&S I’ve ever played. It started its life as a six-valve tuba and Larry Minick removed the 6th valve. The left hand fifth valve was changed to 2/3 and a slide kicker was added for the left thumb (Roger had that set up on all of his tubas)

I think he recorded a few things on his B&S: Morning Song (not sure) and the Schubert Serenade (I’m sure about that one) on “Prunes” were recorded on the B&S as well as many LAPO recordings in the 1980's

Chuck Koontz currently owns that tuba.
I would LOVE to own that tuba!
