I have a German trombone that has that design. I think some people are misunderstanding what it is. The bend of the tubing (the tuning slide on my trombone) looks lopsided - the bend starts slowly and then gets sharper as it progresses around the 180 degree turn. It's the way the tube bends, not the bore, although it is in a conical section of the instrument. There are two trombone makers in Germany who use it that I know of - Kuhnl & Hoyer and Amrein. They play well, but I don't know how much of that is due to the bend. People tend to place way too much importance on one aspect of design when it's really the whole package that contributes to how well something plays.
