I think Allied Supply has some clock spring material that your repair guy might be able to order...It might be the wrong width (??).
I would guess that B&S could still supply it to you...Seriously I could contact V.M.I. I believe they are still putting this linkage on some instruments today.
Also, if your springs have weakened, you can partially disassemble the linkage (yes, a pain...but MUCH more of a pain to completely REPLACE), rotate them in 1/4 turn increments, and tighten the tension to your personal liking.
