Yeah, that aquarium sealer stuff feels nice and "fluffy", but when we tuba players get excited and put the "press" on the system, the silicone is likely to give way and cause a leak through the vent (particularly if the vent is center-drilled, rather than high-or-low drilled).

If someone's rotors rattle or click when "hard" neoprene is used (thus the choice of silicone) there is something loose that needs to be tightened or repaired.

no brag/just fact: My tuba is outfitted with HARD neoprene and is "recording studio" silent.
