Pistons aren't neccesarily any more difficult to vent then rotors, just different. To vent a piston you actually drill a hole in the piston itself as opposed to drilling the casing. The hole then creates a air path between the slide tubing and the hole in the bottom of the piston when the valve is in the up position. Whoever drills the hole has to be real careful. You need to make sure that you don't lose control of the drill and have it go through the piston and hit the port of the valve. The person should use a drill press and make sure they stop the minute they've broken through the piston.
