I think a whole lot depends on how the particular tuba is shaped and designed. My corner-of-the-chair method is out of the question for even a (one in particular specifically in mind) very similar shape-size tuba to my own (due to slight differences in design and significant differences in weight), but perfect for the paricular instrument I now have.
