Some of the best career advice I ever got was from Chester Schmitz when I was at Tanglewood: He told me to finish my Bachelors and get the best music job I could, which, at the time turned out to be with an Army Band. He advised trading up for a better gig as you went along (which I've done). I've since finished a MM and now play in the ballet orchestra (etc.) in Seattle. I would recommend, as my teacher at Lawrence, Nick Keelan used to say, take some time off and work and find out what you don't know--then (if you want) go back to school.
