I concur. I play a 2141 and just ordered a K&M tuba stand (not rest, but a stand) so that I can rest it on its bow instead of bell. I also find that doing that neat swirly thing that the horn players do with thier horn (you know...tilting it around to bring all of the spit back to the water keys.) helps to get all of the spit out.
