I'm not attempting to insult you or your contributions. However, my own experience with magnetic dent removal systems has taught me that they're useful for small dents in thinner brass. The Boosey Imperial BBb is built like a tank and removing dents using conventional techniques (especially from that last loop on the back of the horn that always seems to get the dickens beat out of it) requires quite a bit of effort. Every magnetic tool I've tried on one of these barely has an effect on a dent.

Another problem is that overzealous use of one of the magnetic devices can do more harm than good, leaving grooves that must be burnished out. So caution is always necessary.

Your slab-and-mattress reference is completely opaque to me. I've no idea what you meant.
