If your repairman is any good, installing ball and socket linkage from any hobby store would not be a problem. I picked up 8 Uniballs and got the brass rods for the linkage's from a hobby shop, all for less than $25 (some years ago).
The "hard" part (if I remember correctly) was tapping the Uniballs and threading the brass rod to screw into the Uniballs. It didn't take longer than a day. I have also used plastic ball and sockets so that I didn't have to tap, just screw the threaded rod in. Less than $15 for the whole setup.
I honestly thought either setup was better than the original linkages.
