I've been trying to use a MW 45SLP as my only tuba for the last couple of months and it has worked out. I certainly wouldn't want to play some of the solos I'm playing on a CC, and I think I've been able to hold my own on it in community band. I also wouldn't hesitate to use it if I were called to play in the local orchestra. Having said that, the community band I play with has a fairly good tuba section, so I'm not bothered when I can't play in the low register as loudly as I could on a larger instrument. I would also hesitate to have just the F if I didn't focus so much on solo playing, or if I didn't have the high chops to allow me to play those pieces. I'm satisfied using an F for everything (well, as satisfied as I could be without having two horns or having a Willson Eb fall from the sky), but that doesn't mean I think it's for everyone.
