I think that a company can take as long as it wants to respond to emails, as long as it includes the following disclaimer wherever it publishes its email address:

Note: we're in this business because it is fun and interesting. We will not allow our pursuit of our fun and interests to be interrupted by replying to your email. When we are in the mood to reply to emails, we will do so.

Without such a disclaimer, it would be extremely rude to post an email address when you do not intend to reply to emails in a timely manner.

NOTE: I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS BOTH A PLAYING OR TEACHING CAREER IN ADDITION TO A RETAIL STORE IS AUTOMATICALLY GUILTY OF THIS, NOR DO I KNOW OF ANYONE WHO IS!! I am simply pointing out the ridiculousness of running a business because it is "fun", and not doing the grunt work necessary to keep it going.
