My two cents, for what it's worth:
I am glad that you are at least looking at twelve scales. I wish my School Band Director took interest in those things! What you really should be looking at is THE MAJOR FORTY EIGHT SCALES (Major and the three minors). And if you perhaps get together with the members of the band who are not as good at scales and practice them together outside of band and improve, you may just find that just a little more time gets spent on pieces.
My tip: start with the hard scales when practicing & work on the minors to mix it up a bit.
