I have a B & H Imperial EEflat, 4-valve, and I tried 25 mouthpieces, including every Wick except the 1 XL. I prefer the Schilke Geib, which is a custom model, because my tuba sings with it. I changed the leadpipe to the 981 and shortened the back bow. With the 981 leadpipe and the Geib, there is much resonance, fast response, enough air goes through, and clean articulation. This mpc actually helps me to breathe more the way Jacobs recommends because the sound is not so narrow as it is with the Wicks. The low end is not as dense or powerful as it is with the Wick 2 but there is more sound filling the room even on the low end than with the Wick 2. You could always get another Geib, say a Dillon or Laskey, which would be cheaper than the Schilke. Dillons also has heavy versions. Best wishes, Bill
