The 1291 is a great tuba. If it's good enough for Alan Baer.... the chances are you can't go wrong. But please go to Brasswind or Dillons and play it and several other models. You might find that another model fits you better.
Despite the other posts on this thread there is no reason to be concerned about CC. I think you'll find that although a CC tuba costs a little more, it's resale value is equally higher. Also, It's just a fact that nearly every major orchestral player in America plays CC. If you have aspirations in that direction, and your teacher feels it's time to make the switch, do it now and you'll never look back.
