OK...alternative "goodgigs"...

This afternoon, I was called at the last minute to play at an "impromptu" Mardi Gras party. It was in a mansio...no, a palace next to the green at the 18th hole of the Southwind TPC (Tournament Players Club - world-class golf course) in Memphis - around the corner from the FedEx Worldwide Headquarters. Indeed, Fred Smith (FedEx CEO) was at this party. This is the golf course where the FedEx St Jude Classic is played each year. If you've watched this tournament on TV, you've probably seen this hous...err..palace. The place is literally the size (and interior decor) of a early 20th Century train station...marble floors and marble circular stairways everywhere, numerous 25 foot columns within, and a center ceiling that is perhaps 50 feet in the air. At one end of the house (near the roof line) is a window (one piece of glass, perhaps 15'-20' square) that has the image of four race horses etched into it.

OK, as far as "goodgigs" go, there admittedly was no little kid following me around saying that someday he wanted to play the tuba, but there was

1/ world-class cajun food
2/ open bar with three bartenders
3/ great pay
4/ reasonable hours (3) with four breaks
5/ the first-call players in town as the "front line" in the band...

...and BEST OF ALL...

6/ NO DRUMMER !!!!
