I believe there to be great benefit from studying the Arban method straight from the trumpet book:

- trumpet book is easily obtainable and less edited
- treble clef reading skills with various transpositions strengthened
- can adjust the exercises to "lay" on tubas built in various keys
- The Arban book is not challenging to "read" anyway. Reading skills are not the point of Arban. The point is finger patterns, technique, tone, and flexibility. I don't believe that reading this book (in some edited "tuba" form) offers any paricular benefit nor convenience.
