I've found that it's either easier or cheaper to just get another rim, rather than shipping the one you have off, paying to have it plated, shipping it back, etc. Also, you then have the choice of a silver and gold rim to play on, in case your preferences change.
Another thought, check with your local jeweler. I've heard that with the right jeweler, you can get good quality, comparable cost, and local service. Good Luck.
