I am required to have music prepared on baritone and Eflat tuba. I find that it is much easier to switch down to tuba after having played baritone, than to put the tuba down and pick up the baritone and start playing. My chops just have trouble adjusting to the mouthpiece size for a little while...
My tone is fuzzy and my lips feel real thick for several minutes. I suppose this might be natural, I don't know, I haven't talked to anyone about it yet.
I don't really know what to do about it except to keep doing it and maybe I will get to the point where it doesn't bother me as much....
To tell the truth, I think, after having played the baritone for several weeks, that I am better suited for it than the tuba... hmmmm, more flexibility and more range. I also think that its helping my tuba too...
