I agree that the YBB-641 is on the large side, but it may be what's available. In 7th grade (when I was about 5" tall and had small lips) I had to switch from the nice little Conn Eb I used in 5th & 6th grade to an ancient Besson "Prototype" BBb which was so big I had to sit on a stack of band magazines and instrument catalogs (sure wish I'd taken some of those Conn catalogs home -- back then I lusted for a 25J and ended up with an Alex) just to reach the leadpipe. It was a little discouraging, but I persevered. I think I used a Bach 25 mouthpiece for a while and then switched to a 24AW, which I used for years.

If a smaller horn can be found, I think it would help, but I'm not sure a baritone is the answer. I'd rather see the lad on an Eb (of which there are many decent little horns around for little money)
