These questions make me feel quite dumb, but they are things that I was not taught at my little highschool or in college.... for some reason, maybe I wasn't paying attention at the time.... or something.

Anyway, I bought this horn several years ago, because of its age and it was pretty cheap. I have never played it much until recently and some of its characteristics are bothering me.

Any valve combination using the 3rd valve sounds thin and uncentered, I have asked around and received several suggestions. I can't find a leak, so I am thinking valve alignment. Is this something I can do? Probably has something to do with the corks under the valve cap, but how do you figure out how much?

There is a continous drip from the bottom valve caps, I lay a towel over my lap when I play. Why is this? Can it be stopped? Or do I have to put up with this incontinent beast?

there are others, but I can't think of them right now...

thanks!
