I think that the tuba (or any other instrument, or anything else you do) is as easy, or as difficult as you make it. If you choose to spend alll your playing time sitting at the back of the band playing bass lines, then it will be easy. If, on the other hand, you choose to play in the same band, and also in a symphony orchestra, and do a lot of difficult solo work then you will find it hard. It is up to the individual player how difficult tuba playing is.
