I have heard that Kalison makes their bells on the thins side so that it resonates better. A heavier bell might not produce as much sympathetic vibration and therefore might be a more pure tone, but with less color to it. . . or so I am told. Try this, tap the edge of the bell, it probably rings some, try this on something more like a Willson (heavy horn) and it probably will ring for a much shorter period of time.

As for the differences in playing I have heard that the quality control is not the best in the world at Kalison, there might be lumps in the soldering or something like that.

I must say that both statements are just things that I have heard, so they may or may not be correct.
