I do not use the thumbring and it is still, for me, a very uncomfortable instrument to play. I love the sound and the way it responds. However, after practicing on the horn for about 40 minutes my right hand, arm, and shoulder hurt. For now I have gone back to my trusty Yamaha Eb.
I guess I'm too tall and my arms are too long. Any suggestions short of moving the pipe?
